Today I realized how CBT differs from more psychoanalytic forms of psychotherapy. While Berne, Jung, and Freud saw the main task of psychotherapy as resolving intrapersonal conflicts through working with the shadow and integrating the repressed unconscious, the CBT school prefers fast-acting methods of resolving intrapersonal conflicts. One could say they strive for peace of mind at any cost, and, unsurprisingly, this peace turns out to be short-lived.
